We engineer the systems that sustain England

Where technical excellence meets sustainable design

About SDG Hydronics

SDG Hydronics Ltd is a London-based engineering consultancy specialising in hydronic systems, plant room design, and renewable energy integration. Founded by Stefan Dan Gafita, a qualified energy engineer and project manager with over fifteen years of industry experience, the company bridges the gap between design and real-world performance.

We deliver technically precise, regulation-compliant solutions for residential, commercial, and retrofit projects across the UK. Our expertise spans air- and ground-source heat pumps, district heating, and low-carbon energy systems, supported by full Gas Safe registration and advanced qualifications in construction management, energy efficiency, and system commissioning.

At SDG Hydronics, every project is built on clarity, precision, and long-term reliability — engineering systems that perform efficiently today while preparing for the sustainable demands of tomorrow.

Why Choose Us?

At SDG Hydronics, we understand that every project is unique. Our approach combines technical precision with clear communication and genuine accountability, ensuring that systems perform exactly as designed — efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

We don’t just deliver drawings or specifications; we bring practical experience from years spent on-site, commissioning and optimising systems in real-world conditions. That experience allows us to anticipate challenges, reduce delays, and give our clients full confidence that their investment will stand the test of time.

Every design is built to specification, pressure-tested, and handed over with verified operational documentation — a process that guarantees measurable performance and lasting reliability.

  • Proven on-site experience

With over fifteen years of practical experience across domestic, commercial, and renewable systems, we bridge the gap between design and installation

  • Compliance-led practice

Every project meets the latest Building Regulations, CIBSE, and MCS standards, with documentation, testing, and commissioning procedures that ensure long-term compliance, safety, and performance.

  • Transparent communication

We believe successful projects rely on transparency. From first consultation to final handover, you receive clear communication, structured documentation, and full visibility over progress, decisions, and costs.

  • Client-first philosophy

We integrate renewable and low-carbon solutions — from heat pumps to solar and storage systems — delivering designs focused on efficiency, resilience, and environmental responsibility.

Our Process

Every project with SDG Hydronics follows a clear, structured process designed to ensure reliability, efficiency, and measurable performance. We begin with a detailed consultation to understand your goals, followed by a technical survey or feasibility review to identify the most effective solutions.

Our engineers then develop a compliant, fully documented design package that integrates seamlessly with architectural and on-site requirements. During installation, we provide quality oversight and technical verification to ensure every element meets specification.

Finally, each system is commissioned, tested, and validated for optimal performance, with comprehensive documentation provided for long-term assurance and compliance.

At every stage, precision, transparency, and collaboration define the way we work.

  • Beyond understanding your goals, this initial stage allows us to analyse the property, verify existing systems, identify potential inefficiencies, and outline the technical pathway toward a high-performance, low-carbon solution. At this stage, we also define project timelines, documentation needs, and any regulatory requirements (Building Regulations, MCS, CIBSE) relevant to your installation.

  • We complete a detailed on-site technical survey to verify real conditions, assess existing systems, and gather the data needed for an accurate and efficient design. This includes checking heat loss, pipework, emitters, plant-room layout, controls, electrical capacity, and renewable integration potential.

  • After the concept is approved, we produce a complete, regulation-compliant design package engineered for efficiency, reliability, and long-term serviceability. This includes precise heat-loss calculations, hydronic layouts, flow-rate modelling, equipment sizing, and integration with any renewable systems.

  • We oversee the installation as your technical representative, ensuring every component is fitted to specification and that workmanship, safety, and performance standards are fully met. Throughout the process, we verify alignment with the design, conduct quality checks, and ensure the system is installed correctly for long-term reliability.

  • After installation, we carry out full commissioning to ensure the system operates exactly as designed. This includes testing flow rates, temperatures, controls, safety devices, and overall performance. Once validated, we provide a complete O&M documentation pack, giving you full compliance assurance and a clear understanding of how the system should operate long-term.
